Guaraná com LaranjaGuaraná Orange Mocktail
The Non-Alcoholic Party Cup: Guaraná Soda and Orange.
This is the designated-driver's caipirinha: guaraná — the Amazon berry soda Brazil runs on — cut with fresh orange at every birthday table where someone is not drinking. Simple enough that the recipe is almost embarrassing, and exactly right for it.
Ingredients
- 600 ml guaraná soda, well chilled
- 300 ml fresh orange juice
- 1 lime, sliced
- Ice
- Mint sprigs, to serve
Method
- Juice the orangesSqueeze the orange juice fresh and chill it — bottled juice makes this taste like a shelf.
- BuildFill tall glasses with ice and lime slices. Pour the orange juice to fill a third of each glass.
- Top and stir onceTop slowly with guaraná — it fizzes aggressively — and stir once, gently, to marry without flattening. Garnish with mint.
Questions
How long does Guaraná com Laranja take?
about 5 minutes of prep — yielding 4 glasses.
What is guaraná?
A climbing Amazonian berry whose seeds carry about twice the caffeine of coffee — and the soda Brazil produces more of than cola. Berry-sweet, lightly floral, very fizzy.
Can I make it a cocktail?
A splash of cachaça turns it into a guaraninha — but the classic non-alcoholic version is the point: the birthday-table caipirinha abstainer's drink.
